A Peek Into Some Superb Bollywood Song Remakes

Bollywood Composers love rehashing old classics to create brand new, chart-topping numbers. There are a huge number of Bollywood melodies, which share the common musical tune or lyrics with some all-time favourite yesteryear tracks.
Even though, the list of remakes in Bollywood is just too long, but here we’ll read about a few favourite remakes.

Raat Akeli Hai

‘Raat Akeli Hai’ is an eerie romantic song from the 1967 film ‘Jewel Thief’. It is the perfect track for a spy thriller heist film directed by Vijay Anand and starred Dev Anand, Vyjayanthimala, Ashok Kumar and Tanuja. This particular song video shows a chain of mysterious affairs taking place at Tanuja’s spooky mansion as soon as Dev enters the house. This song was given a completely different twist in the film ‘Ragini MMS’.

Bachna Ae Haseeno

‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, has been one of the most popular Bollywood track since 1977. It was heard for the first time, in the movie ‘Hum Kisise Kum Naheen’ starring  Rishi Kapoor, Kaajal Kiran, Tariq Khan, Amjad Khan, Zeenat Aman, Om Shivpuri, Jalal Agha and Tom Alter. The song was so popular, that after some 30 years later, Yash Chopra and his son Aditya Chopra decided to make a film of the same name starring Rishi Kapoor’s son Ranbir Kapoor.

Khoya Khoya Chand

The remake of the original ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ sung by Mohammad Rafi from the movie ‘Kala Bazaar’, was created for the 2011 crime thriller film, ‘Shaitan’, directed by Bijoy Nambiar. The new ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ is like a background score and doesn’t retain the magic of the old one, but it can still make you happy.

Hawa Hawai

“Aka Chikee Lakee Chikee Chikee, Lakee Chikee Chu, Mai Khwabo Kee Shehjadee, Mai Hu Har Dil Pe Chhayee, Ho, Mai Khwabo Kee Shehjadee, Mai Hu Har Dil Pe Chhayee, Badal Hai Meree Julfe, Bijalee Meree Angdayee”. ‘Hawa Hawai’ has been a favourite with millions of girls, ever since Sridevi gave her sensational performance on it, in the 1987 Science fiction, superhero film ‘Mr. India’. This song was recreated for the 2011 crime thriller film ‘Shaitan’, starring  Rajeev Khandelwal, Kalki Koechlin, Gulshan Devaiya, Shiv Pandit, Neil Bhoopalam, Kirti Kulhari, Rajit Kapoor, Pawan Malhotra and Rajkummar Rao.

Disco Deewane

The original ‘Disco Deewane’ track was sung by the duo Nazia & Zoheb and it was a best-selling Pakistani Pop-disco album. Later this disco number was beautifully remade for the 2012 romantic, comedy-drama film ‘Student Of The Year’, directed by Karan Johar.
Some inspiring old melodies, which remain unfamiliar to today’s generation, are remade for new films. The composers, musicians, singers and lyricists of those days gone by, had something extraordinary about them.
