Here we have a didactic film revolving around one of the most prevalent issues in today’s society. ‘Bhoomi’ which is set to release on the 22nd of September, addresses the plight of a father and his daughter. The daughter is a rape victim. Even though we don’t get to see something new and completely original but still Sanjay Dutt and Aditi Rao Hydari playing the father and the daughter absolutely justify their roles as the lead protagonists. There is a lot to learn from it and you’ll surely fall in love with the splendid musical masterpieces created by the best singers, composers and lyricists.

Lag Ja Gale
‘Lag Ja Gale’ is the first soundtrack from ‘Bhoomi’. It is not at all similar to the 1964 cult track ‘Lag Ja Gale’ from 'Woh Kaun Thi' sung by Lata Mangeshkar. Sachin-Jigar the composers have come up with the perfectly appropriate music. The music gets a little predictable, but in spite of that, you’ll love the melody especially the Antara and the Mukhra part. Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sings it really beautifully. He adds the entire sweet essence to the song. You’ll be transformed to another time and place after listening to it. Even the lyrics by Priya Saraiya perfectly suit this romantic track. Rating: 2/5
Kho Diya
‘Kho Diya’ is unbeatably the best song in this album. Composed by the outstanding composers Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya, written by Jigar Saraiya’s sister Priya Saraiya and sung by Sachin Sanghvi himself, ‘Kho Diya’ sticks to following the ghazal genre. The soothing ghazal melody sans any typical Bollywood element makes it divinely soothing. The fantastic metallic touch in Sachin’s voice works wonders and to be very honest this is Sachin-Jigar’s best composition after ‘Mana Ki Hum Yaar Nhi’ from the ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’ movie. If you listen to it carefully you’ll find a slow sound of water droplets falling in the background. The tipping-tapping music created by the water-droplets sound really magical. Rating: 4/5
Will You Marry Me
The attempt had been to create a smashing and colourful wedding number but in vain. You’ll be left disappointed. These days every movie has a boisterous and peppy wedding track, so it’s really tough competition to come up with something original and innovative. Sachin-Jigar’s previous wedding melody from Simran ‘Lagdi Hai Thai’ though not that catchy, but was still better than this one. The mind-boggling, nonsensical lyrics penned down by Anvita Dutt add to the humor element in the song. Divya Kumar and Jonita Gandhi’s true musical skills don’t get expressed in the least bit. The vocals are hilariously entertaining. The arrangements comprise of digital beats, accompanied by some Indian wedding instruments like the shehnai, dhol etc which help the wedding theme live up to its true colours. Rating: 2/5
Daag
You’ll always come across this kind of an overly dramatic and melancholic track in almost all of Omung Kumar’s movies. Sachin-Jigar’s poignant composition is absolutely heart-wrenching and heart-breaking. Priya Saraiya’s lyrics talk about a huge extent of pain which finally leads to the drying up of tears that even the heart becomes almost stone-like and numb. Sukhwinder Singh tries his best with the singing, but somehow it sounds a little tedious and stretched. The song fulfills its motive and appears really mysterious and intriguing. Rating: 2/5
Jai Mata Di
This is the final wrapping up track from the album. Navratri celebrations have already begun and as the movie is about to release on the 2nd day of Navratri, it will make a great impact on the audience. Composed by Jigar Saraiya, Sachin Sanghvi, Penned down by Vayu, Utkarsh Naithani and Sung by Sanjay Dutt himself along with Ajay Gogavale, it’s a mind-blowing musical masterpiece starting with the Shakti mantra ‘Sarvamangalya Maangalye Shive Sarvaarth Saadhike’. ‘Jai Mata Di’ focuses on women empowerment. You’ll love Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Gogavale’s loud, booming voice. The high intensity of their voices ends up infusing lots of energy to the entire track. Rating: 2/5
Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya are more used to composing for the Rom-Com genre. This was the first time they tried their hand at drama. Some of their creations were really superb but one or two of them lagged behind a little. Each of the track has its own specialty and tries to stand out in the particular genre which they belong to.
