Firangi, the movie starring Kapil Sharma has taken over the Indian audience. The audience is simply loving it. People expected something hilarious from Kapil but this spectacular period drama has won over millions of hearts. Kapil Sharma playing Manga, who works as a police officer for the British believes that the Brits are not as bad as everyone thinks they are. This film beautifully portrays Mangas interesting story set in the colonial period.
The music album is quite intense as well. Check out the songs from the movie below.
Sajna Sohne Jiha
Sung by Jyoti Nooran of the Nooran sisters ‘Sajna Sohne Jiha’ is a mellifluous Punjabi track sprinkled up with folk elements. It presents the sweet and charming chemistry between Kapil Sharma and Ishita Dutta. Jatinder Shah is the composer of this song and Dr Devendra Kafir penned down the lyrics. Watching Kapil Sharma in the brand new romantic avatar as seen in the music video will surely leave you surprised, but Kapil’s versatile acting skills don’t show any trace of him being a comedian in this particular song. Rating: 4/5
Sahiba Russ Gayiya
This one’s more of a melancholic love song which doesn’t fail to cast it’s spell on the listeners. Sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, it stays true to his style. Shah’s brilliant composition and Dr Devendra Kafir’s heart touching lyrics worked wonders and fortunately, this was the only song to have received the maximum positive reviews within the shortest time span. It is going to leave a trail on your heart long after you’ve stopped listening to it. Rating: 5/5
Oye Firangi
‘Saj Dhaj, Ban Than, Chale Kidhar, Badli Hui Hai Kaise Aaj Ye Nazar’ are the starting lines to the title track ‘Oye Firangi’. Sunidhi Chauhan’s husky and smooth textured voice gives this song a beautiful feel. Jatinder Shah and Dr Devendra Kafir have again put in their best for this song as well. Kapil Sharma exudes charm and innocence. The video shows him working for the British, but behind all the seriousness there are bits and pieces of humour as Kapil just cannot do away with comedy. After all, comedy is a part of his being, and it suits the character Manga in this song. Rating: 4/5
Gulbadan
This is a Mujra number being played in the king’s court. You would not want to listen to this more than a few times. Though Mamta Sharma, quite well-known for her item numbers does a great job with the singing and justifies the style and mood required for this song but Jatinder Shah as well as the lyricists Ashraf Ali and Krishna Bharadwaj could have done a better job. The song video displays the part of the palace where Mujra’s are organised. Manga or Kapil Sharma has been invited to it with some of the other royals but Kapil’s funny antics would make you laugh your head off. In the end all the guests including Manga get drunk and start dancing like mad. Rating: 2/5
Kapil Sharma and Ishita Dutta played their parts really well. The entire music album came out much better than expected. The songs will take you back in time to the faraway world of Manga set in the British Raj.
