People are loving the trailer as well as the songs. Kangana would be playing the role of a Gujarati woman, working as a housekeeping lady in the U.S. She tries really hard to cope up with her new workplace and her kleptomania disorder. Lagdi Hai Thai
The album opens with the track ‘Lagdi Hai Thai’ which appears like a follow up to Kangana’s song ‘London Thumakda’ from ‘Queen’. We find her dancing and enjoying to the fullest during some of the ongoing wedding festivities. It’s not her own wedding, but her energetic spirit and carefree nature make us forget all our worries. The flute, drums and trumpet work wonders along with the smashing chorus. Composed by Sachin-Jigar, this song has been written by Vayu and sung by the extremely talented Jonita Gandhi along with Guru Randhawa. Rating: 2/5
Pinjra Tod Ke
‘Pinjra Tod Ke’ has been sung by the pop diva Sunidhi Chauhan, The drifting music is Sachin-Jigar’s fabulous composition and the lyrics have been penned down by Priya Saraiya. It sounds like a slow fleeting melody and revolves around the theme of freedom and independence. It’s about Simran breaking through the set limitations and moving towards a free and happy future. Sunidhi modulates her voice quite impeccably as it reaches a higher altitude with the ascending score and slowly descends towards the end. Rating: 4/5
Meet
‘Meet’ released a single week back and has been the most well-loved track in the album. Sung by Arijit Singh, it stays true to Arijit’s signature style. Hats off to Jigar Saraiya and Sachin Sanghvi for the soulful composition and Priya Saraiya for the heart-touching lyrics. It sounds exactly like a staple Arijit Singh love ballad. You’ll surely love crooning to this soft and lilting track. Rating: 4/5
Majaa Ni Life
‘Majaa Ni Life’ is popularly known as the ‘Single Rehne De’ song. Happy-go-lucky Kangana dances around merrily in her house-keeping uniform. The lyrics penned by Vayu are a ridiculous combination of words written in the first person, Simran introduces herself and talks about her willingness to remain single. She defies her family’s wish of getting her married. Sachin-Jigar’s foot-tapping music and Shalmali Kholgade, Divya Kumar’s entertaining singing style add all the gravity to this smashing dance number. Rating: 3/5
Simran Title Track
The Simran Title Track composed by Sachin-Jigar and sung by Jigar Saraiya himself sounds very much like a musical masterpiece straight out of an Anurag Basu movie composed by Pritam. Jigar deserves an applause for adjusting his tonal quality to make the song sound sweet and chirpy. Priya Saraiya’s awesome lyrics list out Simran’s personality traits like chulbuli (vivacious, lively), nakchadi(snooty) and manchali(capricious). Whatever the case be, the composer duo Sachin and Jigar have been successful at creating an amazing composition which actually stands apart. Rating: 3/5
Just like Simran’s character, the songs are vibrant and full of life. ‘Lagdi Hai Thai’ is the perfect one to be played at a wedding, whereas ‘Majaa Ni Life’ is a typical dance song, ‘Pinjra Tod Ke’, ‘Meet’ and the ‘Title track’ are light and soothing numbers.
