Growing up watching Bollywood movies, surely a majority of you must be Bollywood fanatics turned travel enthusiasts considering the fantasies our beloved Hindi Cinema has shown us for decades. 1. Gerua, Movie- Dilwale
The picturesque and fascinating locales which we witnessed in the movie Dilwale while the song Gerua played, have been shot in Iceland. The beautifully coordinated scenes shot in matching outfits across the breathtaking destinations in Iceland like the Blackbeach airplane named C-47 Skytrain, the Jökulsárlón glacial lake, the rocky Black Salt Beach, the Skógafoss rainbow waterfall, the Stokksnes headland on the southeastern Icelandic coast looked visually attractive and appealing to the viewers and made for quite an interesting watch.
2. Ye Ishq Haye, Movie- Jab We Met
Director Imitiaz Ali has always been thanked by thousands of Bollywood movie buffs for exploring such extraordinary and unusually enchanting locations across India. This song with Kareena Kapoor dancing in it, became quite a peppy and catchy number amongst the youngsters way back in 2008-9. Thereafter Rohtang Pass, located at a height of 3979 metres and at a distance of 51 kms from Manali, on the highway to Keylong/Leh became one of the most sought after locations, for Bollywood travel enthusiasts who specially went touring around Himachal Pradesh to visit Rohtang and experience the lives of the fictional movie characters played by Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor.
3. Khwaabon ke Parindey, Movie- Zindagi na Milegi Dobara
This memorable once in a lifetime movie, which teaches us worthy and amazing things about life and living, embracing adventure and letting go of inhibited fears takes us around some of the most mind boggling locations around entire Spain. This song particularly was shot in Rio Tinto Mines, Huelva Province, Seville Spain and would insist you to take a road trip around Spain like Katrina, Farhan, Hrithik and Abhay, who had a once in a lifetime adventure exploring different terrains across Spain and participating in a variety of native festivals and customs.
4. Main kya Karoon, Movie- Barfi
The awesome movie imparting really deep morals has some of the most fun songs in it. This heart rending song, in which the mute and deaf Barfi shows his love interest Shruti around town depicts his beautiful emotions. Most of this song “Mai kya karoon” has been shot in Darjeeling whereas a very little part of it has been shot in Ooty. This finnesse by Anurag Basu got screened in the Oscars in the foreign film category. The best thing is that, this movie showcased the green, rolling and picture postcard hills of Darjeeling, a hill station also known as the queen of hills on the big screen.
5. Meherbaan Hua Rab, Movie- Bang Bang
Bang Bang was a movie starring Katrina Kaif and Hrithik Roshan. It has been majorly shot around different spectacular islands in Greece, more particularly Crete Island but this song, Meherbaan Hua was shot in the Greek Island of Mykonos. An astonishing island surrounded by scenic hills, crystal clear waters, white sands and pristine white forts topped over with royal blue minarets make for a dreamy escape to the fantabulous world of Bang Bang.
6. Dil Chaahta hai, Movie- Dil Chaahta hai
According to official sources, Goa became a hotspot tourist destination after the release of Dil Chaahta hai. “Dil Chaahta hai” the title song got shot in Goa, more specifically around the Chapora Fort also famous as “The Dil Chaahta hai Fort”.
This movie made many fans take road trips around the astounding Bombay-Goa Highway. The song portrays Goa in all it’s majesty. The lovely beaches, the blue Arabian sea, all the thrilling adventure sports and the Chapora fort takes the viewers through a roller coaster ride while watching this movie.
7. Teri Ore, Movie- Singh is King
This romantic melody makes us love Katrina’s sarees syncing so well with the Pyramids of Giza in the background. Situated on the outskirts of Cairo, the three fourth dynasty Pyramids of Giza can be found in the far West Bank of the river Nile. If you have some latent interest in Egyptian history and the Pharaos then this song is surely going to make you fall in love with it because of both the enticing beauty of the location as well as the soft melody of the song.
8. Jiya Re, Movie- Jab tak hai Jaan
Kashmir’s maddening beauty attracts filmmakers the most. Jiya re from Jab Tak Hai Jaan has been shot on Dal lake and stars Anushka Sharma and Shahrukh Khan. Anushka Sharma’s is seen frolicking around the shikara’s, dancing across the mountains and having a cheerful time with the locals. The simplicity and gorgeous beauty of Dal lake will leave you awestruck and charmed for eternity.
9. Hairat, Movie- Anjaana Anjaani
This movie brought out the enchanting wonders of an arid rain shadow desert Mojave is seen throughout this song. How the driest desert in North America and its nearby National Parks made us fall in love with this Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif starrer song showing a rough and lifeless desert in the Southeastern United States perfect for an adrenaline rising adventurous road trip is quite interesting in itself.
10. Khuda Jaane, Movie- Bachna Ae Haseeno
This catchy number broke all the Bollywood music chart records. Shot mostly in Italy, this song from the Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone starrer movie makes us tour through some of the most exceptionally charming tourist spots in Puglia Italy, The quaint little town of Alberobello full of the most picturesque stone huts with conical roofs is the main setting for the song but we also get glimpses of the stony, sandy Vignanotica Bay and the mind blowing sea arches at Faraglioni Mattinata. These Italian gems leave us yearning for more of these destinations.
