Shreya Ghoshal started her glorious musical journey of over 2 decades at the mere age of four. At the age of six, she officially began her formal training in classical music. At sixteen, she was first noticed by the popular filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s mother after she won the prestigious television reality show Sa Re Ga Ma. Sa Re Ga Ma was a new thing on T.V at that time and people went crazy over her singing. Following the success, she went on to make her debut with Bhansali’s romantic drama, Devdas, which was a blockbuster in 2002. She also received a National Film Award for the best Female Playback singer, a Filmfare award for the Best Female Playback Singer and a Filmfare R.D Burman Award for new talented musicians.
International Recognition
Other than playback singing, Ghoshal was seen on different t.v reality shows
and in music videos. She has luckily been honored by the state of Ohio in the U.S, where governor Ted Strickland declared 26th June 2010 as the official Shreya Ghoshal Day. In April of 2013, she was honored in London by the chosen members of the House of Commons of the U.K. She has been featured around 5 times in the Forbes list of the top 100 celebrities of India. In the year 2017, Ghoshal became the very first Indian singer to have her wax statue displayed at the Indian section of Madame Tussauds Museum in Delhi.
