Amit Trivedi

At the age of 19 or 20, he began his journey as a composer. During his college days, he joined a band called Om, that performed at local gigs, mini shows and live performances. The group struck gold when Times Music noticed one of their shows and wished to launch their album. However, the album was not a success due to lack of promotion.

Slowly, Trivedi started composing for theater, background music for television shows, programming for Marathi films, live performances, small shows and local gigs.

After sound engineer and the recording studio owner of Audio Garage Arvind Vishwakarma introduced Trivedi to Sony BMG, he started composing music for non-film albums. As a part of his contract for two years, Trivedi composed a few tracks for Abhijeet Sawant’s Junoon and another song for Prashant Tamang’s debut album. He also had a brief stint composing advertisement jingles, for brands such as McDonald’s and Airtel. He arranged for many musicians including Amartya Bobo Rahut for a Marathi film Uttarayan in 2004. Film music slowly came to him when his friend and playback singer Shilpa Rao gave his reference to film director Anurag Kashyap. The latter was looking for a new composer with a clear vision for his next movie. He was so impressed with Trivedi that Kashyap gave him the opportunity to compose the entire Dev. D. Soundtrack. Even though Dev. D. was supposed to be his debut, it went through production delays and was shelved for a while. His first successful composition was for the 2009 film “Wake Up Sid”.  Now, music lovers feel that there is no better composer in 2023 than Amit Trivedi and he is here to rule for all the years to come.
